Our name Sólas is derived from the Gaelic word for light. It’s a nod to one of the deeply rooted cultures here in our Nova Scotia home. It also reminds us of solace. We hope our products and the way we make them give solace to all who use them.
Thought is always the first thing on any list of Sólas Naturals’ ingredients. If we cannot understand what something is, what it does, or where it comes from, we do not use it. Every product is hand-made using all-natural ingredients. Soy and our other natural waxes are renewable resources and do not contain harmful petrochemicals like toxic paraffin wax does. Using soy wax, palm wax, beeswax, and other natural waxes and oils, Sólas Naturals developed a superior natural soy candle blend. All of our candles have lead-free, high quality cotton and unbleached paper wicks. Where possible, we source local and organic raw ingredients. Our candle tins, salt scrub jars, lip and body balm containers are 100% recyclable.
We are fortunate that where we live is not only beautiful, but also bountiful. Close to the sea and sheltered by mountain ranges on either side, our Valley has mild temperatures and fertile glacial sedimentary soil. This rich agricultural community is also home to a strong organic and fair trade movement that makes it easy for us to source good ingredients.
